In 1980, Takara created the ground-breaking “Diaclone” toyline in Japan as an original science fiction series of 1:60 scale figures, vehicles and playsets. The name “Diaclone,” was derived from the idea “comrades who have strong friendship and unity like a DIAMOND, and are powerful like CYCLONES.”
Diaclone was a series of robots, vehicles, bases and 30mm Diaclone team member (or Warudaroid) pilot figures in a unified 1:60 scale, with many popular Japanese toy trends such as transformation and combining robots incorporated into the line. In the latter days of the series, the intergalactic theme was abandoned in favor of the “Car Robot” concept, which saw realistic Earth based cars and vehicles transforming into robots (which would later be imported to America by Hasbro (with Marvel creating the storyline and character backgrounds) as The Transformers, the much-beloved and World famous phenomena – but that’s a whole other discussion!).
Along with sister line “Microman”, Diaclone treated the world to a unique science fiction setting with a simple story frame-work of “good vs. evil”. Diaclone machines were not sentient life such as Transformers but were piloted mechs (although some of the AI in the mechs would develop personality quirks), part of a military force standing firm against an alien invasion of terrifying proportions.
In 2015, thirty-five years after its birth and overshadowing by its own spawn, Transformers, and after laying dormant for decades, the Diaclone line was revived and relaunched as Diaclone Reboot and a brand-new chapter for the 1:60 scale Diaclone world began!
It is this Diaclone Reboot line that we are dedicated to. Up until this point there have been no full English language Translations of the material available for this awesome Japanese only collectors line and it is part of our mission statement to rectify that.
