The sci-fi universe of Diaclone is expansive and offers a classic tale of good versus evil that spans the cosmos. With such a vast story, there are numerous fascinating concepts and terms to understand.
To help you navigate this intricate world, we have compiled the following glossary.
Absorize
The ability of many Warudaros mecha to ‘absorb’ other Waruda machinery into themselves to replace damaged limbs. It has been noted that this action is comparable to a magnet attracting iron.
See also “Evolize”.
BIG-AI (Battle Integrated Generator)
A conversational AI program for combat. It is installed as a head unit in most of the humanoid combat machines owned by the Diaclone Corps. Normally activated in decisive battle mode, it manages the complex total body drive control system and uses various sensors to carry out advanced decisive battle maneuvers together with the chief pilot.
In order to ensure smooth cooperation, BIG-AI independently analyzes the best partnerships of the registered chief pilots and creates a “Buddy Interface” that is adjusted to the optimal voice and personality pattern. There are countless BIG-AI programs with various personalities for each machine. The host computer is the Gigazone’s central electronic brain, the “Landmaster”. During special missions that require ultra-precision, the “Landmaster” program may “board” directly.
Bluestar, General
General Bluestar, a radical young Waruda general, lead several successful campaigns, including an offensive in the Andromeda galaxy, before being selected by the Waruda ruling class to replace General Ingam, following the Waruda’s defeats at the hand of the Diaclone.
Bluestar came to prominence using unorthodox tactics, and was a vocal critic of Ingam before replacing him.
Cosmo Marines
An informal way of referring to the Interplanetary Security Force (I.S.F.).
See also ‘Interplanetary Security Force’, ‘Space Marines’.
D-Caliber
Certain Diaclone models can manufactured with D-Caliber specifications, reknown for greatly enhanced overall driving force and combat output potential.
These units are identified by their signature blue and red color scheme.
Dark Nebula, The
An unknown region of space where the Waruda’s original home world is said to be located. To date, no human expeditions there have successfully located either Planet Waruda or the Dark Nebula itself.
The area itself is thought to be largely abandoned as the Waruda spread across the galaxies, using ‘Time Hole’ dimensional technology.
Dark Star
Another name for the “Space Pursuit Mobile Team
“, who in possession of a custom squadron of Tactical Mover Hawk Versaulter Orbithopter Units, and based out of the main defense station.
Diaclone
A catch-all term for everything Diaclone related; the Diaclone Corps, the mecha etc etc.
Diaclone Combat Satellite Base
Deployed in near each planet within the Solar System GigaZone to facilitate and administer Diaclone defensive patterns against alien threat.
Diaclone Corps
The Diaclone Corps is the name for the Diaclone military. Also known formally as The Earth Defence Force.
The members of the Diaclone Corps are chosen from among the elite citizens of all the zones to protect the Earth from the clutches of invading aliens.
In addition to high physical ability and strong mental strength, the members of the team must courageous, passionate, and value peace above all things.
Their invincible teamwork, united by solid friendship, is their greatest and strongest weapon.
Divisons in the Diaclone Corps:
- Earth Defence Force (Diaclone)
- V-Shadow (covert operations)
- Interplanetary Security Force (Cosmo Marines)
- Dark Star
- {incomplete}
Diacrom (Diacrom photom crystals)
An incredibly durable substance, Diacrom photon crystals, as used on various Diaclone mecha (an example being the wings of the Dia-Battles Series).
For instance, by focusing a “blade of light” made of Diacrom photon crystals onto the edge of the wing, Dia-Battles units are able to slice enemies in half! Also, by dispersing the photon crystals, the entire wing surface can be turned into a protective shield.
Dianauts, Dia-Nauts
See Diaclone.
Diatektor
As worn by the members of the Diaclone corps, the Diatektor is an all-environment combat armor with superior mobility and protection. It is also equipped with a power assist function, so it can fight on an even level with the Waruda aliens who attack with their terrifying strength.
By closing the visor and switching to the closed mode, it becomes a completely independent all-purpose airtight system, making it possible to operate in any environment from outer space to the deep sea!
Earth Defense Force
Earth Defense Force, the Diaclone. Initiated in the wake of the original Waruda attacks. See also Diaclone Corps.
Evolize
Derived from the word ‘evolve’, Evolise is an ability of many Waruda Mecha to take on new and terrifying forms by combining with one or more other Waruda machines, amplifying and strengthening itself in the process.
The power of an Evolized Waruda suit is amplified several times more than the normal suit, and the difficulty of completely defeating it increases dramatically.
Countless patterns of Evolized forms have been confirmed, from bonding with a single Pod or Suit to bonding in a Multiprize infinite state, and the individual identification code names vary by region and unit and are not consistent.
See also “Absorise”.
Freezon
The super-matter Freezon is source of intense power. It is speculated that Freezon is distributed across the universe, but Earth appears to be a particularly large source of Freezon, thus drawing unwanted attention from the Waruda Empire.
Galactic Citizen Declaration
The Galactic Citizen Declaration was drafted by The Federation Committee of the Macro Zones after the First Great Waruda War had ended.
Prior to the battle, mankind had ‘First Contact’ with a benevolent race of extra terrestrials warning of the Waruda just before they had been wiped out. If not for this warning, mankind would never have been ready for the Waruda.
Knowing there were both peaceful as well as hostile beings out there among the stars it was decided to formally set out our role within this new and expanding ‘family’.
Gigazone
The biggest of the Zones, covering the entire solar system, and encompassing all the macrozones.
Great Waruda War, The First
The first Great Waruda War lasted from the early 1990’s to the mid 2020’s.
It began with the initial incursions into the Sol system, and ends with Operation Ragnarok, the Diaclone attack to liberate the lunar base from Waruda occupation and the destruction of planet Waruda.
This translates into the initial release of the orginal Diaclone toyline in the 1980’s.
Great Waruda War, The Second
The second Great Waruda War started after their return and destruction of the Mars Zone in 2030’s and beyond.
This translates into the period of the Diaclone Reboot line.
Ingam, General
The fearsome Waruda Warlord General Ingam lead the Waruda forces during their initial incursions.
Later, despite his successes, Ingam was ousted (fate unknown) and replaced as leader with the radical young upstart, General Bluestar, by the Waruda ruling class, after they tired of enduring constant defeats.
Interplanetary Security Force (I.S.F.)
The I.S.F. or Interplanetary Security Force (a.k.a. Cosmo Marines) are a non-terrestrial subdivision of the Diaclone Corps, as initiated by the Macrozone Federation Committee. The are known informally as ‘Cosmo Marines’ and ‘Space Marines’.
The mission of the Interplanetary Security Force is, as the name implies, interplanetary security and defense, and when the Waruda appear near a neighboring planet, The I.S.F. will immediately launch an emergency sortie to protect the planet from the threat, either alone or in conjunction with the planet’s own Diaclone forces.
The I.S.F. has its own customized equipment, such as subspace troop transporters, assault vehicles, and main battle machines. Its high mobility and combat capabilities are said to be among the best among the many Diaclone powered suit units.
Lunar Base
The Lunar Base (or “Moon Base”) are known for many things, perhaps most famously for devloping the game-changing Dia Battles V2 Prototype.
The Lunar Base has been repeatedly attacked and on one occasion, seized, by the marauding Waruda.
Macrozone
After the huge strides forward due to the discovery of the super-energy substance Freezon. The world was divided into five federal states called Macrozones, and in each zone a huge urban computer was built to support the progress and harmony of humanity.
The five zones are:
1 – Metrazone Japan City, the largest macrozone in the world (also referred to as Metra Zone Tokyo City and Nihon City)
2 – Carpus Zone Sumatra, housing a Freezon mining plant
3 – ??
4 – ??
5 – ??
See also “Zones”.
Macrozone Federation Committee
The MFC are a World council, and can take credit for initiating and coordinating the first global unions of Mazrozone super computers, and the Earth Defense Force, the Diaclone, that resulted.
Mars Zone
The Mars Zone, a major outpost of humanity and the first defence line of Earth, was the largest of the non terrestrial Zones.
It was decimated in the year 203X by a major Waruda incursion. The level of destruction was so absolute that to this day no further attempts have been made to re-populate Mars.
Multiprize / Multiply Infinity (Multiply ∞)
The greatest threat posed by the new Waruda suit is a multiplication and merging function called Multiprize or more often, Multiply Infintity (Multiply ∞).
This inexhaustible merging system, reminiscent of the multiplication of bacteria, is theoretically capable of infinite multiplication and fusion.
Because the alien nature of this behavior transcends the biological concepts of humanity, it is extremely difficult to rationalize and anticipate the attack patterns, so full support from the Diaclone combat operating system B.I.G.-A.I. is essential when tackling the Multiply ∞ complex.
See also “Overdose”.
N2 Foundation
A cybernetics research organization who have worked with the Diaclone Corps, notably supplying the theory for the artificial brain-equipped DA-25 Powered System Alpha Prototype.
Neo Attack System
A cosmic defence system covering the Gigazone of the solar system, including the Macrozone of the Earth.
Overdose
This state of “super-collectivity” is a feature of the Waruda Suits Multiprise ability where multiple units can combine with their energy levels increasing by an order of magnitude with each unit making them almost impossible to defeat.
Depending on the number of combined units, the maximum output and destructive power of optical weapons increases exponentially with the only viable tactic being to destroy the units individually or in smaller combinations before they reach the critical overdose stage.
See also “Multiprise”.
Ride Falcon
Newly designed attack armed motorcycle. Equipped with two FZ armor-piercing machine guns that can destroy worm pod-level armor with a single blow. Successor to the Road Viper.
Road Viper
Road Viper is an armed attack motorcycle powered by a Freezon engine, equipped with four pulse blasters for on-road and off-road driving. It was succeeded by the Ride Falcon.
Shadow Caliber
An advanced stealth coating developed by the Diaclone Corps science teams for use on various Diaclone mecha such as custom Trivers series models.
It is a jet-black super electromagnetic metamaterial, especially suited for covert maneuvers such as reconnaissance, tracking, sniping, and raids.
Space Marines
An informal way of referring to the Interplanetary Security Force (a.k.a. Cosmo Marines).
See also ‘Cosmo Marines’.
Tactical Mover
Tactical Mover is a general term for a variable-type tactical mobility machine that has the agility of a PS (Powered Suit) and the interchangeable variable functionality of a Tri-VERS machine, while also having greater combat potential than the PS and more versatile applications than either PS or VERS machines.
See the Tactical Mover Databanks for a greater explanation.
Tactical Shadow
Tactical Shadow is a covert operations unit under the direct command of the Diaclone Command, consisting of units of V-SHADOW enabled Diaclone mech.
TriVERS Series (Tri-Verse)
In order to counter the ever changing Waruda threat, Diaclone Central Command has constructed a new cross-compatible multi-purpose modular combat system, called Tri-VERS.
The VERS system, a portmanteau of “VERSatile” and “diVERSe”, is based on the variable combat system of the Diabattles series, the specialized variable combat functions used in some PS Maneuver models, and other combat systems that have been installed in previous Diaclone machines. The Tri-Vers is an unbeatable combat system that analyses the data of many combat systems amd instantly selects and builds the most efficient machine configuration and tactics under various combat situations to defeat Waruda mecha.
The TriVERS, as its name implies, is a three-machine (Tri) type combat machine series equipped with the VERS system. The core of the system is the highly maneuverable, wingless but flight-capable, thruster machine called the “Bullet Core”. The Bullet Core is accompanied by two “sister” modules: the “Top Machine,” which is mainly equipped with specialized attack units, and the “Bottom Machine,” which is mainly equipped with specialized functional units for flying and running. Each of these machines is an independent module capable of rapid interchangeable and combination maneuvers with a wide variety of machines.
V-SHADOW
V-SHADOW units are custom Diaclone machines initially developed for the TriVERS family of mecha, but now in relatively common usage for hand-picked mecha across the range.
V-SHADOW units are deployed in covert operations such as reconnaissance, tracking, sniping, and raids. It is equipped with various stealth functions and coated with a jet-black super electromagnetic metamaterial, or ‘stealth ferrite’.
In addition to the basic functions of the regular model, V-SHADOW units are equipped with an optical camouflage system that reduces its visibility, a covert shield that cancels all sensor detection electronically, a sound insulation drive system that enables silent high-speed driving, and a multi-color optical smoke screen to distract the enemy.
Although not officially stated, it has also been believed that there is a covert maneuvering unit under the direct control of Diaclone Command, composed entirely of V-SHADOW units. Diaclone Command will neither confirm nor deny this.
VERS
See TriVERS.
Versaulter (VERS Assaulter)
A Variable Frame System (V.F.S.) highly mobile versatile combat machine operated by the Diaclone Corps, classified as a Tactical Mover.
Borrowing from, and building upon, established Diaclone VERS technology, the Tactical Mover family of machines are state-of-the-art combat mecha with the power to compete with the increasing strength of the current generation of Waruda attack technology.
See also ‘Tactical Mover’.
VERS Riser
The VERS Riser (also Verseriser) series is a multi-powered system machine that greatly expands the functionality of a given system. Consisting of a V-Mover at the front, a multi-use launcher unit in the middle, and a functional unit at the rear, the machine can be separated and connected to machines equipped with the system to perform a variety of combat maneuvers depending on the situation.
Waruda
The Waruda (sometimes translated as ‘Warda’ or ‘Walder’) are an aggressive species of alien, seemingly a chimera of more than one race, whose careless exploitation of their home world’s resources lead to an environmental disaster on an unparalleled scale, rendering it inhospitable to life and causing them to spread through untold galaxies, taking whatever they pleased and assimilating any technology into their own.
Post-mortem examinations of crew members recovered from the destroyed Waruda Suits revealed that they were hybrid combat androids parasitized by an unknown space creature thought to be a form of marine organism, and assigned the code name of “Warudaroid”. Equipped with a Freezon Generator power core in the chest, their combat abilities are equal to those of Diaclone soldiers equipped with Diatectors. Confirmed individuals include an intelligence/plunder/strategy type with five fingers modeled after human hands, presumably intended for operating Earth consoles, and a combat-specialized type with sharp, clawed, scissor-like hands thought to be remnants of a parasitic space creature (although these are not believed to be the only expression of Waruda life).
There is debate among the scientific community of a hive mind society hypothesis, which is balanced by evidence of a more autonomous type of Waruda, more naturally given to leading, as evidenced by the Waruda Emperor and Generals such as “Ingham” and “Bluestar”. It is possible they are at once linked to and yet separate from the hive mind. To date the scarcity of uncompromized living subjects for study has meant we lack definitive answers.
After the annihilation of the planet Waruda, the ruling caste and their legions scattered across the countless colonies they had conquered, reestablishing themselves across multiple galaxies within the hive worlds they had occupied as their new base. For them, the collapse of their home planet was merely a matter of a broken vessel to fill with fuel. The Waruda aliens’ plan to invade Earth was not only to seize the Freezon supermatter, but also to eventually take the Earth itself, which was rich with the supermatter and other resources, as a “new vessel,” or a second Waruda planet.

Waruda Emperor
Little is known about the ruler of the Waruda empire, who remains a figure shrouded in mystery.
Waruda Corps
The Waruda Corps, the military force of the Waruda, is led by one or more Generals chosen by the Waruda ruling class. These formidable warriors command armies of large, powerful battle machines, combining their own advanced technology with assimilated knowledge from various colonies—including oceanic and silicate planets.
Additionally, the Waruda Corps is reinforced by a ruthless army of alien mercenaries recruited from Waruda-controlled planets. Their presence significantly amplifies the overall combat strength of the Waruda forces, making them a formidable adversary.
Via the far-off Great Dark Nebula, the Waruda Empire has begun to strike with even greater force than before.
Warudaroids
The form of Waruda “pilot” most often encountered, the Warudaroid is encased in a robotic battle armour, comparable to the Diatektor.
Crew member corpses recovered from downed Waruda suits and mechs were analyzed and found to be hybrid combat androids with a biomechanical body parasitized by a bizarre, simplistic marine organism, assigned the code name “Warudaroid”. It is equipped with a Freezon generator power core in its chest, and has a fighting ability is equal to that of a Diaclone member wearing Diatektor armor.
It has been confirmed that there are at least two types of Warudaroids: an intelligence/strategy type with five fingers that resemble human hands, presumably for the purpose of manipulating Earth-made consoles, and a fighting-focused type with sharp, scissor-like pincer hands, both types appear to be remnants of parasitic space creatures.
Warudaros
The Waruda, attack utilizing a variety of battle machines in various forms. Although many different humanoid attack machines have been identified since the First War against the Waruda, it has been noted that a great many share distinctive similarities, often in the the design of their head units (described as “eerie” or “bug like” by those fortunate enough to survive). These machines are categorized as “Warudaros”.
Warudaros units come in a variety of sizes and can be upgraded and strengthened with their means of attack updated as a result.
Examples of Warudaros are the Soldier Type and its fearsome larger cousin, Gigantor.
Wurtz mineral alloy
A mineral alloy used on various Diaclone mecha, including the Powered System Gamma Type, which affords super-hard protection.
Zones
The world is divided into five federal states called Macrozones, and in each zone a huge, ultra-advanced urban computer was built to support the progress and harmony of humanity.
- Earth’s five Macrozones:
- Metrazone Japan City aka Tokyo City Macrozone
- Carpus Zone Sumatra
- Euro Macrozone?
- US Macrozone?
- ?
- Lunar Zone / Selenium Zone
- Mars Zone
- Solar System GigaZone
